FAQ
How are ensembles selected for and invited to participate in this concert series ?
Each and every ensemble has been specifically recommended or referred to us by an expert in the field. Additionally, each participating music ensemble has to send a Demo-tape or -CD or -MC or a regular tape recording (speed 19 or 9cm/second) of a Live Concert, since a choice can only be made on the basis of this material and we only can accept a limited number of ensembles for each festival. The recording should not be older than 2 years.
Is it required that music be fully prepared prior to arrival in Vienna - Austria ?
Yes. Participating ensembles who are not prepared will be asked to leave rehearsals and will not be allowed to perform in the concerts.
How many rehearsals will be scheduled during the festival ?
In each case, there is a dress rehearsal for the combined music with all participating ensambles with the Artistic Director
Martin Schebesta in Vienna prior to the Gala Concert.
Additionally, and at the discretion of the Artistic Director Martin Schebesta, sectional rehearsals can be scheduled.
Is it possible for participating ensembles to appear in a solo capacity under their own conductor at the Gala concerts in Vienna?
- YES! Each participating ensemble (minimum 40 musicians) receives 20-25 minutes off stage time in Vienna with their own conductor.
In addition each participating ensemble will perform together with the Vienna Boys' Choir the stipulated music pieces.whereby
- Ensembles of 70 and more musicians perform a 30-35 minutes off stage time with their own conductor.
- Should you have an ensemble (or a group of choir and/or orchestra under your direction totalling 100 or more)
we will provide you with 40-45 minutes off stage time with your own conductor.
What kind of audience can we expect at our concert ? On the whole, and depending on the conductor
and repertoire, audiences are large and enthusiastic. Haring KEG "World Choral Festival Vienna" has a comprehensive and aggressive public relations
and audience development division, which assures large audiences.
The Gala concert is promoted extensively through local press and electronic media,
