Dr. Michael Häupl
Mayor of the City of Vienna
Dear Conductors, Dear Young Musicians, Vienna is a world wide renowned city of music. The great music masters of the Vienna classical era worked and lived here. Orchestras, choirs, bands and all other musicians continue these traditions on theatre stages and in concert halls in our city today. We should also underline the role of Schools of Music and Fine Arts where future artists are trained in the tradition of the Vienna classical era to perform in many countries world-wide.
As Mayor of the City of Vienna, I am very happy that our young musician festival "Youth & Music In Vienna" will continue in the following years in Vienna - the city of music. Our city would like to thank all organisers for their great efforts in preparing a meeting for young musicians from all over the world, as music is always a good reason for coming into contact with other people. I would be glad if many music groups and many young musicians will accept our invitation to the festivals in Vienna for 2009 and 2010 as well as for the following years and visit our city to support and promote international music contacts and gatherings. I hope that all participants in the international young musician festival will enjoy their stay in Vienna and in Austria.

LAbg & GR Marianne Klicka,
President of the AICE the Association for International Cultural Exchange (AICE)

is pleased to invite you to participate in our International Youth & Music Festivals and Competitions "Youth & Music in Vienna" in July 2009 and 2010. It is our pleasure to invite Youth music ensembles from all over the world to participate in the "International Youth & Music Festivals and Competitions" in Vienna - the City of Music! These festivals are supported by the City of Vienna and by the International Conference Center. In more than 35 years, since the inception of our festival, thousands of young talented musicians have visited our city and participated and enjoyed in the many activities during the festivals. The international coincidence at the domaine of famous musicians is always an unforgettable experience for all participants, and each group has the possibility to participate in the cultural affairs of the city with their musical work. In my function as President of the Association for International Cultural Exchange, I cordially invite you to these festivals.

During the events at the Festival, including the opening ceremony, opening party, conductors & jury meeting, farewell party aso., participating musicians will experience a unique encounter with other talented musicians from all over the world. Each ensemble will compete (or on request participate out of competition) in Vienna's most famous Congress Centre, the ACV-Austria Centre in Vienna, in their chosen category. In addition each participating music ensemble will present its musical heritage in individual concerts which will take place in public and in historic squares, in parks, concert halls, churches and cathedrals and in various sites throughout Vienna and surrounding villages and towns of Austria.
